Proud dog parents throughout West Hollywood rejoiced following an unanimous decision by the city to require all businesses to provide proper parking for dog strollers. City officials say, “This is sure to be the first of many ridiculously unnecessary pet friendly laws to be instituted.”

The proposal was brought to a vote after West Hollywood couple Jerry Richards, 59, and Marcus Rimando, 31, filed a complaint with the city after they were unable to leave their baby stroller – retrofitted to accommodate their two 6 year old pugs, Laverne and Shirley – outside of Yogurt Stop. “Just because our children (dogs) would rather stroll than walk doesn’t mean they should be persecuted. They’re not animals, they’re our babies,” said Richards.

The law will come with steep fines against businesses that don’t provide designated spaces for said dog strollers, a penalty which Richards says, “I’m fine with that. I don’t own a business or have a job besides loving my babies full-time and they pay me in kisses!”

West Hollywood business owner, Marty Stewart, 51, expressed confusion over the ruling,”I don’t get it. We’re talking about fully capable dogs in baby strollers and not like a handicapped dog with it’s hind legs in one of those sad little chariot looking things, right?” Stewart pointed out that implementing the new law outside his hardware store is “physically impossible. There’s no room. We don’t even have a parking lot for cars… I’m sorry, we’re really talking about someone pushing a totally healthy dog around in a stroller? Was there ever a baby?”

The new law will not be enforced until early 2017, which gives businesses appropriate time to question why they ever opened up in West Hollywood to begin with.
