Rapid advancements in technology and consistent price drops have made it easier than ever to waste your parents’ money on quality equipment to produce below average content. Twenty-something Echo Park resident Tyler Simms is doing just that. His podcast entitled “Four Huge Dicks” has him frustrated by the podcasts’ less than stellar following.

“Why isn’t anyone listening? I just don’t get it. I’m doing the same thing as everyone else.” said Simms, answering his own question.

After graduating college with a below average GPA in Philosophy, Simms optimistically entered the work-force. After a “rough couple of months” searching for gainful employment he changed his career trajectory and set his sights on the glamorous and lucrative world of podcasting.

Simms, considered the office cut-up at the six temp jobs he has worked since 2010, has put out nearly four-dozen episodes to date. Simms describes his podcast as “me and my three buddies talking trash. A bunch of guys in a room talking about the topics everyone else is afraid to touch, like how crazy Trump is, and Caitlyn Jenner. Who wouldn’t want to listen to that?”

Although his most listened to episode has only thirteen downloads, which are attributed to his two retired aunts and a handful of long-haul truckers; Simms is hopeful that he will find his core audience. “The trick is to keep a format and make sure it’s consistent. That’s what Maron does. When people find out about us they’ll be pissed they didn’t know sooner.”

Tyler Simms is one of the countless many to be chewed up and spit out by the podcast industry. If there is any lesson to learn from his harrowing journey it is that the only way to succeed is to produce the same product time and time again with no deviation or improvement.

“Repetition is the spirit-animal of creativity.” – Tyler Simms
